Over the week,
I was bothered about so many things of which I couldn’t pinpoint exactly why
they keep me worried. It got to a time that I didn’t feel like talking to
anyone, I just wanted to enjoy my privacy and think things through.
On
Saturday night, I was surfing the Net and I had a pop up on my screen for the
scriptural verses of the day. I really don’t pay attention to them when I’m
busy, but this particular bible verse caught my attention and it was as if I’m
just reading or seeing it for the first time. 1
PET. 5:7 (CASTING ALL YOUR ANXIETIES ON HIM, BECAUSE HE CARES FOR YOU).
While pondering
on this words, I got the understanding that casting all anxieties on God does not
necessarily mean that whatever ails us will be solved, fixed or banished
immediately. It means releasing to God all worry, fear, guilt, and remorse. Whatever
weighs us down or ties us up. Whatever cares we have about people, situations,
the past, the present or the future.
So
many times, we are so worried about things that naturally can solve themselves
if we allow it, and also things that can get resolved if we take action. We are
so worried about Who’ll fix things, or plan to fix things, if I don’t, who will?
shouldn’t I be problem solving? Shouldn’t I be doing whatever I can to bring
relief? Why am I not achieving this? Why is that not working out as I envisage
it?
Perhaps we get
as far as casting all care on God but we still allow doubts to creep in. We
wonder why God hasn’t fixed the things that were causing us to be anxious even
after presenting them to Him in prayers. We keep asking question like “Why as
nothing changed”?
Do
you know that casting your anxieties on God isn’t a guarantee that He’s about
to instantly fix all our troubles? It is a promise and assurance from Him that we
can peacefully free from the care of them and we allowing Him to take over.
As we cast our
anxieties on God, He relieves us of worry, fear, and any other care that is
proving too heavy to carry. He frees us from a sense of helplessness and
hopelessness. We can then permit ourselves to receive and enjoy His peace.
As
far as the cause of the care goes, that may or may not change, but it no longer
has power to drag us down. We can live with it or whatsoever ‘it’ with our mind
at rest.
All God is
expecting from you today is that you should cast all your anxieties on Him. What
a wonderful gift this is!
You are never
alone, abandoned or without hope because you have a Father who is always there
to help you when you surrender all to Him.
