𝐁𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐰𝐚𝐣𝐢 𝐅. 𝐎𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐲𝐞

“ _For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future_ .” — Jeremiah 29:11

We all make plans. Some are detailed, with budgets, timelines, and expectations. But as much as we plan, life does not always go the way we imagined. Sometimes, our carefully thought-out steps fail, and we are left wondering if we missed the way. Yet Scripture reminds us that God already knows the plans He has for us—plans that are often higher, wiser, and better than our own.

Not long ago, I had an experience that opened my eyes to this truth. I had prepared for an upcoming event, complete with a detailed budget and a clear list of things I needed. But when I arrived at the store, I couldn’t find what I was looking for. Frustrated, I was ready to give up and go home. Then, a friend suggested that I try Plan B.

To my surprise, Plan B turned out far better. I found exactly what I needed—at a fraction of the price. Later, when I went out to get the remaining items, I encountered similar challenges. But just when I was about to give up again, a stranger offered to show me where I could find them. There, I not only found what I had originally planned for but also more than I expected—still within my budget.

That day, I learned a lesson: God’s plans often look different from ours. I wanted things to go according to my list, but God had a better outcome prepared. I saved more than half of my budget and gained even more than I had anticipated.

This mirrors the lives of many in the Bible. Joseph, for instance, had dreams of greatness, yet he was betrayed, sold into slavery, and imprisoned. To him, it must have looked like every plan had collapsed. But behind it all, God’s plan was at work. In the end, Joseph could say to his brothers, “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good” (Genesis 50:20).

Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that God’s plans are never to harm us but to prosper us. Even when our paths seem blocked and our plans fail, His hand is guiding us toward something greater. Isaiah 55:9 says it clearly: “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

So the next time your plans fall apart, don’t lose heart. Instead, ask yourself: if God’s thoughts are higher, His plans better, and His purposes eternal—why would I settle for my own limited plan when His perfect will is already unfolding?
