It’s funny how a simple commute can turn into a deep life lesson. Earlier this week, as I was heading home from work, I saw the clouds gathering—heavy, dark, and ready to burst. I quickly whispered a prayer, asking God to just let me get through my front door before the rain started.
True to His grace, I made it home perfectly dry. But then, I felt a bit emboldened. I asked Him to hold the rain just a little longer so I could run back out and grab something else. In that moment, though, my heart shifted. It felt less like a request and more like I was testing His limits or questioning His capabilities. The second I stepped back out of my door? The sky opened up, and the rain poured down.
I realized then that sometimes God hands us a blank cheque. He is ready to do whatever we have the faith to write on it. But when we start to doubt, limit Him, or try to "test" His power instead of just trusting it, He shrinks His manifestation to the small capacity we’ve decided to carry. He doesn't lack the power; we just lack the room to receive it.
I was sharing this story with a friend later, telling him about how my day went and the big lesson I learned about not limiting the Divine with my own small thinking. He looked at me and said something that really stuck: "Shoot for the sky. Because even if you eventually miss, you will still land on the moon."
That’s the secret. When you stop trying to "test" the boundaries and instead start aiming for the highest possible version of your life, even your "misses" will land you in a place more beautiful than you ever imagined. Don't bring a tiny cup to an ocean of possibility—write a big number on that cheque and aim for the stars.
